The privacy of visitors to Food Tours is important to us. We never sell your personal information to third parties. We are not in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists with other companies and businesses for marketing purposes.
How We Use Your Data
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files may include your IP address, your ISP (internet service provider), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Chrome or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site as well as other non-personal data. This data is processed in a way which does not identify anyone. This data is accessed by a third party, Google Analytics. We do this to find out things like the number of visitors to the various parts of our website.
You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or making comments.
As part of our newsletter mailing list, we collect certain personal information from you. This information includes your email address and other information you may provide. We collect this information to send you the newsletter you have signed up for, to occasionally contact you to provide additional information and to check every now and then that our records are correct and you are satisfied with our service and newsletter.
We use a third-party provider, Mailchimp, to deliver our newsletter. Mailchimp gathers and provides us with statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and manage our newsletter. For more information, please see Mailchimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to our mailing list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of all our emails.
We use WordPress as our content management system along with a number of plugins to help manage the look and feel of our site. This includes a social sharing plugin which provides social media share buttons to enable visitors to easily share blog posts to various social media platforms. This plugin places cookies and records visitor IP addresses to determine social share counts. This is used purely for the purpose of displaying share counts on blog posts.
We use third-party advertisements on Food Tours to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing Sydney real estate ads to someone in Sydney, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing travel ads to someone who frequents travel sites).
Food Tours participates in a number of affiliate marketing programs. This is done by adding links within text, images and banners which adds a cookie and tracks purchases on the merchant’s website. We then receive a commission for sales at no extra cost to you. Current affiliate programs in use on this website include but is not limited to Amazon, Booking and GetYourGuide. Please see their privacy policies below:
Amazon Associates Program
Food Tours is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. As part of this Amazon Associates program, we post customised links, provided by Amazon, to track the referrals to their website. This program utilises cookies to track visits for the purposes of assigning commission on these sales.
Under the European Union’s GDPR policy, you are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information we hold. Please contact our data protection officer with your request via our contact form.
Food Tours may share data when required to do so by law.
